Lonely City : Night Walks

ABOUT LONELY CITY: NIGHTWALKS

Walking in Queens, NY at night. Glimpses of interiors, inviting yet forbidding. Barbershops with lit windows like a film screen, showing a narrative I can’t enter. Words, color, light and shadow create formal compositions with hidden meanings. The project title “Lonely City” comes from Olivia Lang’s book “Lonely City” on urban loneliness in the life and work of American painters Edward Hopper, Jackson Pollock and others. They walked New York at night, too.
